Abstract

This study analyzes the sustainability of the community development program through free beauty training conducted in Aka-Akae Village, Watang Sidenreng District, Sidenreng Rappang Regency, South Sulawesi. The program, initiated by the local government, aims to empower women with beauty skills that can enhance their economic potential. However, several challenges hinder its sustainability, including limited access, lack of effective promotion, minimal post-training support, and insufficient government recognition. Using the framework of sustainability and community empowerment principles, this paper highlights the importance of participation, inclusiveness, local engagement, justice, and collaboration to ensure the program’s continuity. The findings suggest that building partnerships, providing continuous support, and developing asset-based approaches are essential strategies to strengthen women’s skills and economic independence. Therefore, sustainable community empowerment requires a holistic and collaborative approach involving local governments, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and the community itself.
