Productive Waqf, Consumptive Waqf, Community Welfare, Economic Sustainabilityالملخص
Waqf is an Islamic economic instrument with significant potential to support social and economic development. There are two main types of waqf: consumptive waqf and productive waqf, each playing a distinct role in enhancing societal welfare. Consumptive waqf focuses on meeting immediate needs through the development of public facilities, while productive waqf is aimed at generating sustainable income that can be used for various social initiatives. This article aims to compare the sustainability potential and effectiveness of these two types of waqf in improving community welfare. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review based on previous research. The findings indicate that productive waqf has advantages in creating long-term benefits through a sustainable income stream, supporting social programs such as education and health, and providing a multiplier effect in poverty alleviation. Conversely, consumptive waqf is more effective in addressing urgent community needs, although its impact is more limited in the long term due to the lack of generated sustainable income. Therefore, effective management of productive waqf can enhance community welfare more sustainably, while consumptive waqf remains relevant in addressing pressing social infrastructure needs.المراجع
