Abstrak

At the modern Islamic boarding school Al-Kautsar Pekan Baru there are programs that help in developing Arabic for students. With these programs, the researcher hypothesizes that there is a positive role of the Arabic language environment in improving Arabic speaking skills. The question arises, does the Arabic language environment really play a big role in improving Arabic speaking proficiency? The aim of this research is to find out what the Arabic language environment is like at the Al-Kautsar modern Islamic boarding school and to find out the role of the environment in improving Arabic speaking skills for MTs students at the Al-Kautsar modern Islamic boarding school. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The way to analyze data is by reducing data, displaying data, and proving data. The research conclusion is that the Arabic language environment at the Al-Kautsar Modern Islamic Boarding School has important factors such as a combination of formal and informal Arabic language learning, Arabic language teachers and the Arabic language section of the student organization, continuous Arabic language activities, and an assertive language system that creates an environment which supports the absorption of Arabic. This suggests an organized and disciplined environment to achieve language application, support, and repeated language learning. They feel great benefits from this environment which makes them confident in speaking Arabic. So, the Arabic language environment has a big role in the success of Arabic language learning at the modern Islamic boarding school Al-Kautsar Pekan Baru.
