Syauqi Ḍaif (Studi Peranan Dalam Pembaharuan Ilmu Nahwu)

Abstract

The inherently philosophical and convoluted nature of traditional nahẉ materials has led many modern nahẉ scholars to seek their reform. Among those who have made significant contributions to the development of modern nahẉ is Syauqi Ḍaif. This study, entitled “Syauqi Ḍaif (A Study of His Role in the Renewal of Nahẉ Science),” addresses two research questions: What criticisms have nahẉ scholars leveled against Syauqi Ḍaif in the field of nahẉ, and what role has he played in reforming nahẉ science?

The method employed is library research with a qualitative approach. Data sources for this study include the books Tajdīd Nahwī and Taysīr an‑Nahwī at‑Taʻlīmī Qadīman wa Ḥadīthan maʻa Nahji Tajdīdihā, as well as other documents relevant to the research.

The results of the study indicate that Syauqi Ḍaif authored six books on nahẉ, all of which generally treat nahẉ as an exclusive domain of the Arabic language. Furthermore, six main themes emerge from his efforts to renew nahẉ materials: reformulation, elimination, addition, and others, all aimed at making nahẉ more accessible so that beginner students of Arabic do not find it overly difficult.
