Publication Ethics Guidelines
Publishing peer-reviewed articles in Edukimbiosis is a significant contribution to the development of a trusted knowledge network in science, etnoscience, technology, and teaching in the field of science (biology, physics, and chemistry). Article publication reflects the quality of the authors' work and their supporting institutions. Therefore, all parties involved in the publishing process—authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and the academic community—must adhere to ethical standards consistent with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The publisher of Edukimbiosis is Institut Agama Islam Negeri Parepare, which is fully responsible for all stages of article publication and maintains publication integrity by ensuring editorial policies remain free from commercial influence or other interests.
Publication Decisions
The editor of Edukimbiosis is responsible for determining which articles should be published based on their scientific validity, relevance to the field of social and religious communication, and importance to readers and researchers. In making these decisions, the editor is assisted by reviewers and the editorial team and guided by journal policies and applicable legal requirements, including plagiarism and copyright.
Fairness Principle
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely based on intellectual content without considering the author's background, such as religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, or political views.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality regarding all manuscript information received, disclosing it only to relevant authors, reviewers, potential reviewers, and other parties as necessary for editorial processes.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript must not be used by editors or editorial staff for personal advantage without written consent from the authors.
Reviewers' Duties
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Reviewers assist editors in making publication decisions and help authors enhance the quality of their articles through editorial communication.
- Timeliness: Reviewers who feel unable or cannot complete the review on time should promptly inform the editor to ensure a smooth review process.
- Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents, not to be shared or discussed without editor authorization.
- Standards of Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively without personal criticism of the author. Reviewers' comments should be supported by clear arguments.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers must identify relevant works not cited by the authors and inform the editor if there are substantial similarities to other published works.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers should not use information obtained from reviewing manuscripts for personal gain and must avoid reviewing manuscripts with conflicts of interest.
Authors' Duties
- Reporting Standards: Authors must accurately and objectively present research results with clear supporting data. Deliberately inaccurate statements are considered unethical.
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their articles are entirely original. If using others' work, authors must cite or reference appropriately.
- Multiple or Concurrent Publication: Authors should not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals, as this is considered unethical.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors must clearly acknowledge others' work that has been influential or used in their research.
- Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to individuals who significantly contributed to the research. All co-authors must approve the final version of the article.
- Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose all conflicts of interest that may influence research results.
- Fundamental Errors in Published Articles: If fundamental errors or inaccuracies are discovered in published articles, authors must promptly inform journal editors to facilitate corrections or article retractions.
