Abstract

The development of global tourism necessitates the integration of sustainability aspects and religious values, prompting an analysis of the development strategy for the Kalibiru Kanang natural tourist destination in Polewali Mandar. The main objective of this study is to formulate a sustainable development model for the Kalibiru Kanang Nature Tourism Destination through the lens of Sharia Tourism. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, where data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with relevant parties, and documentation studies. The analysis focused on evaluating the 3A components (Attraction, Accessibility, and Amenities) and their compliance with Sharia principles and sustainability concepts. The results show that Kalibiru Kanang has strong Attraction potential, but the implementation of Accessibility and Amenities, especially prayer facilities and halal services, as well as the aspects of sustainable environmental and social management, still require strengthening. The proposed strategy emphasizes improving the quality of halal services, developing environmentally friendly 3A infrastructure, and educating the local community. Practically, this article provides a significant contribution in the form of strategic recommendations for managers and local government in realizing a competitive, Islamic-value-based natural tourist destination. Academically, this research enriches the literature on the synergy between sustainable tourism and sharia tourism at the local level.
