Peer Review Process

All research articles submitted to Shi’ar: Sharia Tourism Research undergo a double-blind peer review process, meaning both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous throughout the process. Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two qualified reviewers to ensure academic integrity and the quality of the research.

Plagiarism Screening

Before the review process begins, all submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening by the editorial team. This includes both manual checks (using offline and online databases) and the use of Turnitin plagiarism detection software. In cases where plagiarism is detected:

  • Manuscripts with over 25% similarity will be returned to the author for revision.

  • For instances of serious plagiarism, the manuscript will be immediately rejected.

Review Workflow and Timeline

  1. Submission: The editor receives the manuscript from the author.

  2. Initial Evaluation: The editor evaluates the manuscript based on the journal's aims, scope, formatting, and completeness of required documents.

  3. Plagiarism Check: The manuscript is screened using Turnitin to check for plagiarism before being sent to reviewers.

  4. Review Process: The editor assigns the manuscript to two reviewers and sends them the review form. The double-blind review is strictly applied. Reviewers are expected to return their evaluation within 2 to 4 weeks.

  5. Reviewer Feedback: Reviewers submit their completed review form, which may include comments, suggestions, and a revised version of the manuscript if necessary.

  6. Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' comments and suggestions, the editor makes one of the following decisions:

    • Accepted

    • Minor Revision

    • Major Revision

    • Rejected

  7. Author Notification: The author is notified of the editorial decision via email.

  8. Revision Stage: If revisions are required, the author must submit the revised manuscript within 1–3 weeks. Any submissions returned after this deadline will be considered new submissions.

  9. Final Decision and Publication: Once the revisions are accepted and the manuscript is finalized, it will be scheduled for publication and made available online.
