Publication Ethics
The Indonesian Journal of Islamic Counseling (IJIC) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. All parties involved in the publishing process — the editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher — must agree to the following ethical standards:
1. Duties of Editors
-
Fair Evaluation: Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts solely on their academic merit, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, nationality, or political philosophy.
-
Confidentiality: Editors must ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not disclose any information to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher.
-
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their research without the author’s explicit written consent.
2. Duties of Reviewers
-
Contribution to Editorial Decision: Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and helps the author improve the manuscript.
-
Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
-
Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with supporting arguments for their evaluations.
-
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors.
3. Duties of Authors
-
Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original, and any work or words of others are properly cited or quoted.
-
Multiple or Redundant Publication: Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
-
Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.
-
Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.
-
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
4. Publisher's Responsibilities
-
Monitoring and Safeguarding Publishing Ethics: The publisher takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously and recognizes ethical and other responsibilities.
-
Handling of Unethical Behavior: In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher, in collaboration with the editors, will take appropriate measures, including corrections, retractions, or other suitable outcomes.
