Abstract

This article examines how the Atiqa Sharia Hotel in Pinrang Regency applies sharia law. Scholars have been drawn to the application of sharia principles in the hospitality industry, which has correlates with the rise of halal tourism and the issuance of the 2016 DSN-MUI fatwa on the implementation of sharia tourism. Many studies on the application of sharia principles have been conducted in popular destinations in Indonesia, but this study area is still understudied in Pinrang Regency and South Sulawesi. The purpose of this study was to analyze the application of sharia principles at the Sharia Hotel Atiqah Pinrang. The type of research used is descriptive-qualitative. Primary and secondary data were obtained from observations, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique was triangulation, to reduce the bias of the researcher's subjectivity. The results of this study indicate that sharia principles have been applied as in hotel rules and policies. The principles adopted by the Atiqa Pinrang Syariah Hotel are the syairah principles sourced from the Al-Quran and As-Sunnah which are operationalized through the DSN-MUI fatwa regarding the provisions of halal hotels. Atiqah Syariah Hotel conducts strict screening for guests, is not allowed to bring unlawful items, worship facilities, and the obligation to cover the genitals for employees.
