STRATEGY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH SPORTS AND TOURISM ON DEVELOPING SHARIA TOURISM IN PAREPARE CITY

The purpose of this study is to identify the strategy for developing Sharia tourism in the city of Parepare. Parepare City is one of the cities in South Sulawesi that has become a tourist destination and is continuing to develop various tourism potentials, one of which is the development of Sharia Tourism. The goal of this article is to identify planning strategies, implementation, and potential barriers to Sharia tourism development in Parepare City. A qualitative approach was used in the research, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of this study, the form of planning adopted by the Parepare City Government in the development of sharia tourism is the commitment to all stakeholders, a collaborative project with the private sector, and other agencies in promoting and optimizing the level of cleanliness in sharia tourist attractions. In the implementation of sharia tourism development, the development of facilities and infrastructure in the form of sharia hotel providers and food providers with MUI halal certificates, increasing promotional activities by organizing cultural events/festivals and conducting literacy campaigns and sharia tourism awareness movements among the people of Parepare. However, the government's tourism development planning and implementation have been impacted by three factors: 1) inadequate infrastructure, and 2) a lack of the public's knowledge of sharia tourism, and 3) A lack of funds.
