Publication Ethics
Kuriositas: Media Komunikasi Sosial dan Keagamaan is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractice.
This journal follows the principles of transparency, integrity, and accountability in scholarly publishing and aligns its ethical standards with internationally recognized best practices, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the academic merit, originality, and relevance of submitted manuscripts to the journal’s scope.
Editors must evaluate manuscripts fairly, objectively, and without discrimination on the basis of gender, race, religion, nationality, or political beliefs.
Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.
Editors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts undergo a fair double blind peer review process.
Editors must take reasonable responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted or published manuscript.
2. Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and in improving the quality of manuscripts through constructive and objective feedback.
Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not disclose any information obtained during the peer review process.
Reviewers must conduct reviews objectively, without personal criticism of the authors.
Reviewers must identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and report any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and any other published work.
Reviewers must not use information or ideas obtained during the peer review process for personal advantage.
Reviewers must decline review invitations if a conflict of interest exists with the authors, institutions, funding sources, or subject matter of the manuscript.
3. Duties of Authors
Authors must ensure that their submitted manuscripts are original, have not been published previously, and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Authors must properly cite and acknowledge all sources used in their work.
Authors must accurately present their research data and findings and must not engage in data fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting.
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest at the time of submission.
All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the research and must agree to the submission and publication of the manuscript.
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript.
4. Plagiarism Policy
All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using similarity detection software.
Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 30 percent will be rejected or returned to authors for correction, depending on the severity and nature of the overlap.
Plagiarism in all its forms, including self plagiarism, is unacceptable and will result in immediate rejection or retraction of the manuscript.
5. Duplicate and Redundant Publication
Authors must not submit the same manuscript or substantially similar content to more than one journal at the same time.
Redundant publication, including the publication of the same research in multiple journals without proper acknowledgment, is considered unethical and will result in rejection or retraction.
6. Data Fabrication and Falsification
Data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data is considered a serious ethical violation.
Any manuscript found to contain fabricated or falsified data will be rejected or retracted, and the authors’ institutions may be notified.
7. Authorship Criteria
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.
All individuals who have made substantial contributions should be listed as authors, and all those listed as authors should have approved the final manuscript.
Changes to authorship after submission require the written consent of all authors and the approval of the Editor in Chief.
8. Retraction and Correction Policy
The journal will publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
Articles may be retracted in cases of proven plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or serious ethical misconduct.
Retraction notices will clearly state the reason for retraction and will be linked to the retracted article.
9. Conflict of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the objectivity, integrity, or impartiality of the publication process.
Any identified conflicts of interest will be managed by the Editor in Chief to ensure a fair and unbiased editorial decision.
10. Complaints and Appeals
Authors or readers who wish to lodge a complaint or appeal an editorial decision may submit a formal written request to the Editor in Chief.
All complaints and appeals will be reviewed by the Editorial Board in accordance with this Publication Ethics policy.
The decision resulting from a complaint or appeal is final.
