Kuriositas: Media of Social and Religious Communication is an academic journal published by the State Islamic Institute IAIN Parepare, focusing on studies of social and religious communication grounded in Islamic values. Since its first publication in 2008, Kuriositas has maintained a strong commitment to high standards of scholarly publishing. With ISSN 1979-5572 for the print edition and e-ISSN 2541-6480 for the online edition, the journal upholds the principles of open access to ensure that research findings reach a global audience.

A commitment to academic integrity has consistently formed the foundation of the journal, as reflected in its strict policies against plagiarism and all forms of unethical publication practices. From its inception, Kuriositas has adhered to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics COPE to ensure fairness, objectivity, and ethical standards throughout its editorial and publication processes.

In 2021, Kuriositas obtained national accreditation based on Decree No. 158 E KPT 2021 concerning the Accreditation Ranking of Scientific Journals for Period I of 2021, issued on December 9, 2021, and officially announced on January 24, 2022. This accreditation recognized the journal’s quality management, academic contribution, and thematic relevance to the development of social and religious communication studies.

To further enhance publication quality, Kuriositas introduced a new article template starting from Volume 18 Issue 1 in 2024. This initiative aims to improve the journal’s professional appearance, clarify article structure, enhance readability, and strengthen overall quality in preparation for higher national and international accreditation standards. The updated template also supports faster indexing, increases global visibility, and provides a better reading experience for users.

In line with its commitment to openness and wider dissemination of scholarly knowledge, Kuriositas has also updated its publication licensing policy. The journal previously applied the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial CC BY-NC license and has since transitioned to the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International CC BY 4.0 license. This change allows broader use, distribution, and adaptation of published works, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate attribution is given to the original authors and source.

As an open access journal licensed under CC BY 4.0, Kuriositas ensures that all published articles are freely accessible to the academic community without financial barriers. Transparency in editorial processes, objectivity in peer review, and a continuous commitment to quality improvement remain the journal’s core priorities in maintaining credibility and trustworthiness.

Today, Kuriositas continues to position itself as a leading reference for academics, researchers, and practitioners in the fields of social and religious communication, offering scholarly contributions that are impactful, relevant, and ethically grounded.
