The inaugural edition of the Journal of Mathematics Learning and Innovations (JMLI) features six articles showcasing a variety of approaches and fresh ideas in mathematics education, born from local contexts and classroom practices. These articles explore ethnomathematics in Mandar traditional motifs, the use of region-based cultural media to understand fraction concepts, and the use of educational videos to support algebra mastery. In addition, several studies highlight how students' mathematical thinking skills can be honed through contextual problems, including those oriented toward PISA, as well as how audio-visual media can serve as a tool to foster critical thinking skills. As the opening publication, this edition marks the beginning of JMLI's journey in creating a scholarly space open to practices, reflections, and innovations in mathematics education.
